Ulrich Erben (born in 1940 in Düsseldorf) is a German painter associated with abstraction, particularly concrete painting and an aesthetic close to color field painting, known for his “white paintings” and his subtle work on light and color relationships. He taught painting at the Kunstakademie Münster (1980–2005) and divides his life and work between Germany and Italy.
